York’s wealth of shops, visitor attractions and historic places of interest  could keep a sightseer or shopper occupied for days.

If you are visiting York for a shopping or sightseeing trip, why not take a break and enjoy a meal or a pint of real ale in our atmospheric, traditional pub. We are situated in the historic part of the city, close to York Minster, one of the world’s most famous cathedrals, with foundations rooted in England’s earliest history.

The Royal Oak dates back to the 15th Century and is situated on the ancient street of Goodramgate.  A structure on the site of the Royal Oak has been evident since Viking Times, and sits within the original Roman Fortress built here nearly 2000 years ago.
